About Us

Mission Statement

The Occupy Boston Health Justice Working Group (aka HealthJusticeBoston) is an open and evolving group of Boston area community members, health activists and health workers. We believe that health is a human right and that systemic injustices, the pursuit of profits over people, and the accumulation of wealth by the few all harm the health of our communities. We seek to mobilize, educate, inspire and act in solidarity in ways that lead to greater health justice.

Goals

1. EDUCATE: Create widespread recognition that health is a human right and that the root cause of health injustice is the unequal distribution of power and resources in our society.

2. AGITATE: Inspired by the Occupy movement, we will utilize the tactics and philosophy of direct action to fight for social and economic justice, a health care system that places people over profit, and to advance human rights for all,  regardless of race, gender, sexuality, class, or country of national origin.

3) ORGANIZE: Build power by amplifying the voices of those most impacted by health inequalities, working in synergy with the Occupy movement and other social movements, and mobilizing our communities around a common platform of health justice
